the spider and the dog

I found myself somewhere inside on ground level

the windows were open
and I wrote poems

people stood outside
I closed the window and smiled.

relaxed I jumped back into bed

a black dog stood outside another window

I let him in

I never saw his eyes

all I could think of was how to avoid him

exhausted I let go and fell from the ceiling into his open mouth

and he bit me

after a while I realized the bites did not kill me

I let him continue

my body got used to his bites
and the marks vanished

the Spider smiled

you let him in, and then you tried to escape

your anxiety made your mind seem harmful
and now you know it is not.

she let him out of the front door

I went back

and I opened the windows
